With its series “Atrium Dialogues”, DEG wishes to promote the international exchange.

More than 120 participants from almost 40 countries attended the conference, during which banks and other companies from different regions reported on their experience and strategies in times of crisis.

DEG’s Chairman of the Board Dr Polte expressed his hope for an improvement of the situation: “The relative stability, which several countries and regions have managed to re-establish, shows that the activities of development finance institutions have obviously gone into the right direction.”

The outgoing Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul in conversation with Helmy Abouleish, CEO of SEKEM Group. DEG provided the group with a long-term loan to the amount of 10 million US-dollars while the conference took place.

Questions welcome: The lively exchange between speakers and audience was in the focus of the event.

The second “Atrium Dialogue” offered the opportunity for personal talks and exchange of experience.

On the occasion of the conference, Dr Winfried Polte, who retired in late September 2009, said good-bye to his international partners.
