DEG is a private limited company (GmbH). Our website provides company and project information in the context of B2B relationships and does not offer any services aimed at consumers. As a result, the website is not directly subject to the obligations for public sector bodies under the German Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (Barrierefreien-Informationstechnik-Verordnung, BITV 2.0) or for B2C services under the German Accessibility Improvement Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG).

Nevertheless, as a responsible company and a subsidiary of KfW, we voluntarily adhere to recognised standards for making information accessible to as many people as possible. In particular, we follow European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 (conformance level AA).

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the aforementioned standards. This assessment is based on an external audit report. We are using the findings of the report to gradually remove barriers to accessibility.

Non-accessible content

We are still working on removing some of these barriers. In particular, this includes:

• PDF documents: Older publications and documents provided to us by third parties (e.g. project partners) are often not fully accessible. When publishing new documents, we endeavour to ensure that they are accessible, or we offer HTML alternatives.
• Images and graphics: Not all graphical elements have meaningful alternative text.
• Multimedia: Integrated video content does not always include subtitles or audio description.
• Usability:
  • Some elements (e.g. sliders, pop-ups) cannot yet be fully operated using the keyboard.
  • The visible focus indicator is sometimes missing during keyboard navigation.
  • On mobile devices, zoom functionality is sometimes limited for technical reasons.
• Structure: Forms and navigation areas are not always reflected in the HTML code in a semantically correct manner, which can cause difficulties when using a screen reader.
