Staying connected, strengthening networks and meeting customers are key elements of DEG’s business. Recently, DEG had the privilege of hosting two events in Cologne: the opening reception for the 76th Latin America Day, followed by DEG’s traditional customer reception during the Anuga food trade fair.

Kick-off for the 76th Latin America Day at DEG

On 30 September, the evening before LAV’s, Association for Latin America, annual conference, an important event for German-Latin American business relations, around 270 guests gathered at DEG’s headquarters in Cologne. The reception’s guest of honor was Peruvian Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer. Welcome remarks were delivered by LAV Chairman Arthur Ernesto Darboven, Ingo Kramer (Latin America Initiative of German Business), KfW Executive Board Member Christiane Laibach, and DEG CEO Roland Siller.

Among the guests were the ambassadors from Argentina, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil, representatives from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Federal Foreign Office, as well as numerous DEG clients from Latin America and Germany. The evening’s speeches and conversations shared a common theme: seizing opportunities and deepening economic ties.

The Latin America Day conference continued on October 1 and 2 with panels and discussions on current economic topics, including industrial hydrogen use and energy infrastructure in Central America.

This year, DEG CEO Roland Siller welcomed around 70 guests to DEG’s Anuga reception.

Organized biennially by Koelnmesse, Anuga is the world’s largest trade fair for food and beverages, featuring about 8,000 exhibitors from 110 countries. Around 70 guests attended DEG’s traditional Anuga reception. Guests included Kenyan Ambassador Stella Mokaya Orina and clients from Peru, Paraguay, Colombia, Morocco, Vietnam, Singapore, Turkey, Moldova, and Germany.

In his address, DEG CEO Roland Siller emphasized the need to actively shape transformation in the agriculture and food sector. He was delighted to once again provide a platform for companies across the globe to exchange ideas. Against the backdrop of climate change and resource scarcity, DEG stands by its clients as a partner for resilient, climate-friendly, and socially inclusive business models. He highlighted not only DEG’s financing solutions but also advisory services such as Business Support Services (BSS) and develoPPP, which help companies drive sustainable transformation.
