COVID-19 Response: develoPPP

Note on COVID-19 Response

Due to the positive reaction and high demand, project proposals can no longer be submitted for this develoPPP.de programme. We will inform you here, should this be possible again at a later point in time.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) currently supports initiatives by privately owned companies that mitigate the economic as well as the health-related impact of the corona pandemic in developing or emerging countries.

Suitable projects can receive up to EUR 2,000,000 of funding, with the public contribution covering a maximum of 50 percent of the total costs. In cases of particularly high developmental relevance, projects close to a company’s core business may also be eligible for support within the COVID-19 Response framework. In these instances, the public contribution is up to EUR 200,000. In accordance with EU law on state aid, non-profit and public procurement, higher funding amounts may be possible in exceptional cases.

The measures to be supported are selected through special competitions. Currently, project proposals can be submitted until the 31st of March 2021.

Who can apply?

The program is open for German and European companies as well as companies from developing or emerging market countries that:

  • have an annual turnover of at least EUR 800,000
  • have records of two operational financial years and
  • are registered in the EU, a member country of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) or a country on the OECD DAC list

From idea to project

Interested companies can submit their project proposals for COVID-19 Response to DEG. In order to be able to clarify any questions at an early stage and to enable projects to start as quickly as possible, submissions are expressly encouraged before the application deadline. The incoming project proposals will be continuously reviewed and, if the decision is positive, will be further specified together with DEG.
