Second climate dialogue in Bangkok: DEG brings ASEAN clients together to exchange experiences

For the second time, DEG hosted a climate dialogue for numerous clients from Southeast Asia. Entitled “Strategic Climate Action: Building Resilience Across Sectors”, the event brought together around 100 representatives of DEG clients in Bangkok on 14 and 15 September 2026 to discuss how private-sector companies can strategically address climate mitigation and adaptation while strengthening their resilience.

The two-day event focused on peer learning. Through presentations, panel discussions and workshops, participants shared practical experience and discussed solutions to key challenges. Topics included the decarbonisation of business models, managing physical and transition climate risks, renewable energy and strategic partnerships.

Opening the event, Dr Michael Knaus, Senior Climate Expert at DEG, highlighted the importance of climate as a resilience factor in times of increasing uncertainty. DEG clients from sectors including energy, chemicals, textiles and agriculture then shared their experiences and perspectives alongside external experts. Indorama Ventures provided insights into its climate action journey and key lessons learned, while the Vietnamese agribusiness TTC AgriS demonstrated how climate action and climate risks can be integrated into a business model. Representatives from the energy sector discussed approaches to cross-sector collaboration on decarbonisation and renewable energy. B.Grimm also contributed its perspective on how business success and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.

Direct exchange is a key element of DEG’s offering to its clients, as many companies face similar challenges in addressing climate change and the associated risks. The event gave participants an opportunity to deepen their dialogue with peers, learn about successful approaches and good practices, and jointly develop new perspectives.
