DEG makes donation to children’s charity “wir für pänz”

This year, rather than giving its employees presents for Christmas, DEG is donating €10,000 to Cologne-based children’s charity “wir für pänz”.

DEG employees and retired employees were invited to vote on who should receive the money. In the end, it was decided that it should go to local charity “wir für pänz” for its “kleine pänz – starke familien” project aimed at helping parents with small children who are living in poverty in Cologne.

Charity director Petra Gast: “We were delighted to receive this wonderful donation. As our parent-and-child groups are financed exclusively through donations, large sums like this are exactly what we need for the groups to continue their good work.”

DEG supports entrepreneurial initiatives in developing and emerging-market countries with a view to contributing to sustainable development and improving living conditions for the people there. As a Cologne company with a keen sense of social responsibility, DEG and its 500-strong workforce also play an active role in social and cultural initiatives in their own region. Once a year, for instance, DEG employees take part in the local “Kölner FreiwilligenTage” volunteer event, helping out with charity activities for refugee families or schoolchildren, etc.

As a care service for children and an independent provider of youth welfare activities, “wir für pänz” provides a wide range of services for families in need.
