Book launch at DEG with Feridun Zaimoglu

"They call me Hitler's son. Aryan on the run. Strong child." – this is how Feridun Zaimoglu's latest novel "Siebentürmeviertel" (Seven Towers District) begins. The prize-winning author tells the story of Wolf, a German boy who suddenly finds himself in Istanbul following the death of his mother. The year is 1939 and Wolf has fled from the Gestapo with his father. Out of the blue the boy has to get to grips with living in the Seven Towers district, the most dazzling part of the Bosporus metropolis with its different cultural groups, and find his place among the district's youth.

Cooperation with the "Literaturhaus" Cologne and DEG

The understanding between different cultures is a recurring topic in the work of the German author with Turkish roots. The book has been published by the Cologne-based publishing house, Kiepenheuer & Witsch, and DEG is proud to host its launch, as part of its commitment in the area of culture. FAZ columnist Sandra Kegel will be talking to Feridun Zaimoglu.
