China
China is the most populous country of the world: its 1.3 billion people account for about 20% of the world's population. It is particularly the huge domestic market and the favourable production costs which make China interesting for investors. Foreign companies have recently invested at a high level - the People's Republic has attracted the highest number of foreign direct investment besides the USA.

At the same time, however, China is characterised by economic and social disparities and structural problems, which include, among others, the widespread poverty in many rural regions, especially in the west of the country, and the increasing environmental pollution.

A sector in which DEG is becoming more and more active is manufacturing industries, particularly investments into modernisations and the increase in the energy efficiency of companies.
