Award for PPP project in Brazil
Umweltcluster Bayern (Environment Cluster Bavaria), a network of trade, industry and science, has elected the project “Clean water for Brazil” of Grünbeck Wasseraufbereitung GmbH as “Beacon Project 2009”. DEG supports the project with funds from the PPP programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
In the federal state of Minas Gerais in the northeast of Brazil, Grünbeck tests and optimises a water treatment plant, which was designed in Germany for use in rural regions. The plant allows for decentralised water supply thanks to a mobile, autonomous treatment technology. Thereby the project makes a major contribution towards supplying remote areas with clean water. The project is accompanied by water experts of the Universität der Bundeswehr München (University of the German Armed Forces in Munich) and Dr. Krätzig Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH. The local partner is the Brazilian water provider COPASA.
Umweltcluster Bayern supports companies from the field of environment technology in developing and manufacturing marketable products and distributing them home and abroad. The award “Beacon project of the Umweltcluster Bayern" distinguishes projects which make an exemplary contribution to the development of environment technology, demonstrate innovative development trends and which set an example both at national and international level.
